Privacy Policy

Chief Aim exists to hold one thing for you: your Chief Aim. This policy explains what we collect to do that, what we do with it, and what we will never do with it. It is written to be read, not skimmed past.

The short version

• Your aim belongs to you. It is encrypted in transit and at rest, and only you can read it.
• Your aim is written by AI. Your interview answers go to Google's Gemini API to be shaped into it. We pay for that API so your words are not used to train it and no one at Google reads them.
• We collect the minimum needed to run the app: your account, your aim and interview answers, and your subscription status. Your ritual history stays on your device.
• We do not sell your data, show ads, or use third-party advertising trackers. Ever.
• You can delete your account and everything with it, from inside the app, at any time.

What we collect

• Account details. Your email address and name when you sign up, whether that is with an email address, with Apple, or with Google. They identify your account and nothing else. If you sign in with Apple and choose to hide your email, we only ever receive the private relay address Apple gives us, never your real one.
• Your aim and interview answers. The goal you describe and the answers you give the coach. These are the product; they are stored encrypted and tied only to your account.
• Ritual history. Which mornings and evenings you completed, the actions you committed to, your plan's progress, and your sealed letter. These stay on your device so the app can show your streak and calendar. They are not uploaded to us.
• Subscription status. Whether your account has an active subscription, provided by Apple and our billing processor (RevenueCat). We never see or store your card number.

How your words are used, and the AI that reads them

Your aim is written by AI. When you finish the interview, your answers go to our servers and on to Google's Gemini API, which shapes them into the paragraph you read twice a day. Nobody writes it by hand, and nobody here reads your answers in the ordinary running of the app.

Google is worth being exact about, because the answer depends on which plan an app is on and most apps never tell you. We pay for the Gemini API. On the paid plan Google does not use what is sent to train or improve its models, and it is not put in front of human reviewers. Google keeps it briefly to check nobody is abusing the service, and that is all. We do not sell your answers and we do not share them with other users.

We were on the free plan until August 2026, and that plan is different: Google uses what is sent there to improve its own products, and its staff may read it. If you wrote your interview before then, those answers went across under those terms. We moved off it for this reason.

It is worth being exact about what the coach ever sees, because it is less than people assume. It sees your interview answers, and it sees them once, at the moment your aim is written or rewritten. Your ritual history, the actions you commit to, your streak, your calendar and your sealed letter never reach it. Those stay on your device.

Who else touches your data

Four companies, each doing one job, none of them advertising.

• Google. Runs the Gemini API that writes your aim, and Sign in with Google if that is how you sign in. It receives your interview answers when your aim is written. We are on the paid plan, so it does not train on them and its staff do not read them. See the section above.
• Supabase. Hosts our database and runs the server that talks to the coach. Your aim and answers sit there encrypted.
• Apple. Handles Sign in with Apple and every payment. Your card details never reach us.
• RevenueCat. Tells the app whether your subscription is active. It sees an account identifier and a subscription status, and nothing you have written.

What we never do

• No selling or renting your personal data. Not to anyone, for any price.
• No advertising and no third-party ad trackers in the app.
• No more than two notifications a day. That is a product promise, and a privacy one: your attention is not our inventory.

Subscriptions and payments

Payment is handled entirely by the App Store. We receive confirmation of your subscription status, never your payment details. Trials, cancellations, and refunds follow the App Store's rules and are managed from your Apple account settings.

Notifications

Chief Aim sends exactly two reminders per day, at the morning and evening times you choose. They are scheduled by the app on your own device: there is no push server, and no device token is ever collected or sent to us. You can change the times, or turn notifications off entirely, in your device settings or in the app.

Deleting your data

Settings → Delete account removes your account, your aim, and your interview answers from our systems, and wipes everything the app kept on your device. This is immediate and permanent. An active subscription must be cancelled separately through the App Store, since billing is Apple's, not ours.

Children

Chief Aim is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we will say so in the app before the change takes effect, not bury it. The date at the top always reflects the current version.
